Elegant Events final wedding of 2009

We are thrilled to say 2009 was one of our best years ever!  Humbled by that fact too.  We never take our success likely.  We work hard.  We love what we do.  We invest in ourselves and our clients over and over again. And we are terribly thankful for each and every client that allows us the opportunity to be apart of their wedding.

We are looking forward to just a bit of down time now and then we can't wait to pick it back up with our first wedding of 2010 in Feb.  We wish everyone a wonderful 2010!  

Debra and Tom's wedding

Here is a clip from our final wedding of 2009.  Congrats to Debra and Tom! They put together quite a team. Cincinnati Netherland Hilton, Ford Ellington Florals, Goodwin Lighting, Maribelle Cakery, Proart Music, Johnny Clueless Band and Ron Shuller Creative Images (who also provided us the clip). Quite an evening!  Even had the Nick Lackey choir from Clash of the Choirs join us for a few minutes during dessert.  Great way to end the year!

Congratulations to all of our 2009 couples!  Happy Holidays and here's to your 1st New Year as husband and wife!!!

The end of an elegant event...

Home from my Filopino wedding!  What wonderful people.  Everyone was so kind and gracious.  I will truly miss this family.  And even though I got brought into this wedding late in the planning process, we had a great vendor team and all came off just as the client wanted.  Loved the band too.  Clueless does such a great job!  I keep humming the "Piano Man" which they put on CD to play as they were breaking down.  I really like that they give you that little bit of extra time to wrap up the evening.  I hate it when bands play the last song and then turn up the house lights and begin breaking down.  It's too quick and harsh.  Clueless give you a bit of time to end the evening.  It's little touches like that, that make the difference between a nice wedding and an amazing wedding and why a band like Clueless is worth it.

Elegant Events has first Filipino Wedding

   

Elegant Events is doing it's first Filipino wedding this month and we just can't wait.  The bride and her family are wonderful.  We are looking forward to spending time with this family and assisting them with some of their traditions. Here is a bit of information about different Filipino wedding customs.

The sponsors are made up of two groups; the Principal Sponsors are grandparents, uncle, aunt or even parents. These sponsors are considered silent sponsors who are there for the couple in time of need but are silent during the wedding ceremony. The sponsors are called ninongs and ninangs (godparents). The Secondary Sponsors take part in the ceremony and handle the candle, veil and cord.

The Filipino wedding ceremony will more than likely be Catholic. In most cases it will include a Nuptual Mass. Unlike western cultures, in Filipino wedding customs, the groom walks down the aisle alone or with his parents.

At the beginning of the ceremony the parents of both the bride and groom will light two candles, one on each side of the Unity Candle. These will later be used by the bride and groom to light the Unity Candle to symbolize the union of the two families through the love of the married couple. The lighting of the Unity Candle is used to invoke the light of Christ in their married life.

Two of the secondary sponsors, usually a man and a woman, will pin a veil to the to the shoulder of the groom and drape it over the bride's head. The veil is a symbol of their unity and shows that they are "clothed as one".

Another set of sponsors then will place the lasso (a white silk cord) loosely around the necks of the bride and groom in a figure eight configuration. This symbolizes a lifelong bond and everlasting fidelity between the bride and groom.

Once the sponsors have fastened the veil and draped the cord the groom gives the bride the arrhae (13 coins). The coins have been carried by a coin bearer who comes down the aisle with the ring bearer. These coins have been blessed by the priest and are a sign of his dedication to her well being and that of their future children.

Queen City Club in Cincinnati

    Great wedding this past weekend at the Queen City Club.  Ceremony and reception were both held there.  Client could not have loved it more.   The key is a great wedding team which this client had.  Everyone working together to make it happen.  Even the shuttle driver at the very end of the night...calling me to tell me he had picked up his last load.  (Thank you to everyone on the team, Steve Lyons, Ford Ellington, Clueless band, TLC trolley, Goodwin lighting and the staff at the Queen City Club. 
    My favorite part of the night,  was when the surprize polka band played for the main band break.  This was a special gift to the bride's grandmother...the crowd went crazy.  All dancing...young to old!  The Polka Dots did a great job too!  Should have seen Grandma (Uma) Hilda face.
